Man left with non-life-threatening injuries after ‘chainsaw attack’

A man has been left with non-life-threatening injuries after being allegedly attacked with a chainsaw in Adelaide overnight.

The drama started around 9.30pm when two men, who police say are known to each other, became involved in an altercation on Mersey Street in Taperoo.

Police believe one of the men attacked the other one with a chainsaw, inflicting non-life threatening injuries to the latter’s hands.

A shocked neighbour has told 9NEWS he was woken by the sound of two men yelling and fighting in the street.

He then heard a chainsaw briefly running but didn’t realise the noise was related to the fight.

The injured man was raced to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

A ute parked in front of a home loaded with traffic signs and witches hats appears to have been vandalised, its windscreen and passenger window smashed in.
